PERFORMANCE & BATTERY LIFE [Samsung Galaxy A73 5G]–

The A73’s Snapdragon 778G is its best feature. It may also be its weakest point. Pros first. The chip is neither old nor new. This implies that app developers and Samsung—having used it in phones like the A52s—have optimised it. The chip is Qualcomm’s best for the intended segment. Fast, trustworthy, and efficient. This hardware can fly with suitable software, like the A73.

This phone handles most tasks without a hitch. It runs well without throttling. Importantly, it stays cool. Benchmarks, again, show this. The A73 completed the 20-minute 3DMark Wildlife stress test with 98.9% stability, which is outstanding. Despite being in Delhi, the temperature barely rose by 3 degrees Celsius throughout this period. We also ran the 45-minute AnTuTu stress test on this phone, CPU Throttling for 30 minutes, and the A73 remained calm and confident.

This also improves battery life. A73’s 5,000mAh battery lasts all day. This phone should last a day and a half for most general users. Unfortunately, Samsung doesn’t include a charging brick with the A73, which supports up to 25W fast charging.

The A73 has a Super AMOLED Plus display from Samsung. This may explain its smaller profile. Faster display too. 120Hz refresh rate (versus 90Hz in the A72). 6.7-inch, 1080p screen. Netflix works with its 800nit peak and HDR10 playback. Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protects the centre hole punch. In-screen optical fingerprint readers handle biometrics. This is fast and trustworthy.

CAMERAS & SOFTWARE [Samsung Galaxy A73 5G] –

Things go awry here. The A73’s 108MP main camera (f/1.8, OIS) may outperform the A72’s 64MP. The 5MP depth camera replaces the 8MP 3x telephoto, while the 12MP ultrawide and 5MP macro remain. The A73 isn’t as adaptable as the phone it replaces, regardless of megapixels. The A72’s zoom camera, like its IP certification, is still rare. But it is.

The A73’s main camera is updated. Nicely, most outcomes are positive. The phone captures good clarity, wide dynamic range, and pleasant, if oversaturated, colours. Samsung’s processing is top-notch, so you’ll seldom be able to tell the A73 isn’t a premium camera phone. When lit well, photos are practically flagship-quality. In indoor/artificial and low light, the main sensor captures detail with negligible noise. The macro camera is enjoyable and takes sharp close-ups in any setting. Portraits are detailed and well-separated. The ultrawide disappoints. It provides soft photographs regardless of lighting and lacks colour consistency with the primary camera.

A72’s 32MP front camera returns. It takes great selfies and photos, but low-light performance suffers.

Videography is strong on the A73. The main, ultrawide, and selfie cameras support 4K@30fps without stabilisation (this is only available on the rear cameras at 1080p). The main sensor takes the best footage, followed by the ultrawide.

Samsung’s mid-range A73 brings high-end software-aided camera capabilities. Object Eraser and Photo Remaster are notable. They are mostly quirky, but they improve the overall experience by adding additional ways to interact with your phone.

Today, Samsung phones are worth buying for their software. Since this phone has so many layers and functions, even Android purists might not be able to determine if it’s running Android 12. But trust us, everything from unlimited customisation through colour palettes and widgets to specific privacy measures like microphone and camera alerts is there and operating properly. SAMSUNG GALAXY A73 5G | SHOULD YOU BUY IT?

The Galaxy A73 appears more costly than it is. Its vivid display makes content consumption enjoyable. The phone performs well. Amazing battery life. The cameras are good but might be better. On Android, extended software support and 5G provide unmatched futureproofing.

Things aren’t perfect. The A73’s dual speakers lack Samsung’s usual punch. No headphones or chargers are included. Haptic feedback needs improvement also. Pricing follows.
