So, for the ZenBook Pro 14 Duo OLED, Asus opted to insert a second screen just above the keyboard, allowing you to multitask conveniently and eliminating the need to compete with coworkers for the last remaining display in the office.

However, Asus isn’t relying primarily on this capability. It also has an eye-catching 120Hz OLED panel, and at its heart is the 12th Generation Intel Core CPU, allowing the Pro 14 Duo to handle intense workloads easily.

While there are many advantages to discuss, there are also some undeniable drawbacks. The inclusion of the second screen not only puts the keyboard in an awkward position but also drains the battery life. So, how does the Asus ZenBook Pro 14 Duo OLED compare to the competition, and is it among the best laptop options available?

Design:-

Asus has been promoting dual-screen laptops for some years, and this is the latest incarnation. The second screen is positioned slightly below the main display on the chassis, with a hinge tilting the panel up as you lift the laptop’s lid.

It’s a pretty innovative design that allows me to see both screens without having to extend my neck. As an added plus, having the screen lifted off the chassis allows for ample ventilation, keeping the ultra-powerful components below cool.

The ZenBook Pro 14 Duo OLED is made entirely of metal, as you’d expect from a 1,49,000 & 2,24,990 laptop. It’s robust and attractive, with a beautiful emblem printed on the lid that appears as if it came straight from Star Trek.

The laptop can weigh up to 1.75kg depending on the configuration you choose. That’s significantly heavier than the majority of 14-inch laptops, but it’s understandable given the second screen and the cooling solution required for the Intel H-Series chip. And, to be honest, I had no trouble lugging this laptop around.

There are two Thunderbolt 4 and one USB-A port on the right edge, as well as a headphone jack on the left. Asus has also borrowed a page from its gaming ROG range by including a few connectors on the back: a power port, HDMI, and a microSD card reader.

Performance –

The Asus ZenBook Pro 14 Duo offers an outstanding set of specifications. It features Intel’s latest and finest 12th Generation chipset, as well as an H-Series version, which means it’s optimized for high-performance activities.

Even when browsing the web and performing routine productivity chores, the incredible speed of this laptop was obvious. With many Chrome tabs open at the same time, it didn’t even flinch.

But how does it stack up against competing laptops? I evaluated the performance using the Geekbench and PCMark 10 benchmarks, and I was really pleased with the results.

In terms of CPU speeds, the Asus outperformed the Dell XPS 13 OLED – not surprising given that it sports an H-Series Intel chip – but it highlights how significant the high-performance CPU is.

The Intel Core i7-12700H was even able to compete with the M1 Max chipset found inside the MacBook Pro, which is one of the fastest processors available in a laptop at the moment. Those looking for an ultra-fast laptop will be pleased with the Asus ZenBook Pro 14 Duo OLED.

Battery life –

• Dismal four-hour battery life
• Can be improved by turning off ScreenPad.

Designing a laptop is a balancing act; pack it with a lot of high-end specs, and you’ll have to make sacrifices. Asus clearly made sacrifices on the battery life front for the ZenBook Pro 14 Duo.

Most laptops can last for more than 10 hours on a single charge, but the ZenBook Pro 14 Duo only lasted 4 hours and 29 minutes in our PCMark 10 battery benchmark tests.

This is most likely due to a combination of factors such as the H-Series processor, high screen resolution, and secondary display. For the second test, I turned off the ScreenPad Plus, which increased the battery life to 6hrs 32mins – better, but still far behind its competitors.

In the same test, the Dell XPS 13 OLED managed 7hrs 22mins, while the MacBook Pro consistently exceeded the 10-hour mark.

It’s also worth noting that the ZenBook Pro 14 Duo’s battery life will likely be reduced even further if you choose the RTX 3050 Ti configuration – GPUs are notorious power hogs.

Final Thoughts –

I’ve never seen a laptop with that many features. The H-Series Intel chip is ideal for heavy workloads, the OLED screen is stunning for both photographs and videos, and the secondary screen can be used for a variety of tasks to make multitasking easier.

However, in order to fit in so many features, Asus has had to make some sacrifices. The keyboard is cramped and not ideal for individuals who need to type long dissertations, and the battery life is poor, thus anchoring you to a power socket for the duration of a full day’s work.

The Asus ZenBook Pro 14 Duo isn’t for everyone, but if you think the second screen could be a game changer – especially for tools like Premiere Pro and Photoshop – then the hefty price is well worth it.
